MDC targets China
The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC) is aiding Malaysian
IT companies to enter China, the world's fastest growing economy,
and is also luring Chinese companies to set up shop in Malaysia.
For a start, MDC is giving 12 Multimedia Super Corridor
(MSC) companies a platform to gain entry into the China
market via the world's largest and most comprehensive ICT
tradeshow CeBIT Asia 2004.
The MSC companies will have a chance to showcase their
products, solutions and services to visitors at the CeBIT
Asia 2004 in Shanghai from April 26-29 for possible business
opportunities and market entry into China.
"During the exhibition, MDC aims to increase the interest
and awareness on the MSC, especially enticing China's local
companies to choose Malaysia as the preferred location to
expand their businesses in the Asean region," MDC said
on April 21.
The MSC companies include asiaEP Bhd, REDTone Telecommunication
Sdn Bhd, Tantalus Asia Sdn Bhd, IguanaMobile Sdn Bhd, Multimedia
Prospect Sdn Bhd, Nusuara Technologies Sdn Bhd and Inix
Technologies Sdn Bhd.
The others comprise UnrealMind Interactive Bhd,
iNavigate Sdn Bhd, NSS MSC Sdn Bhd, Orisoft Technology Bhd
and 3ntity Sdn Bhd.
"The event will give the delegates an opportunity
to have a better understanding of the China in-demand technology
and market," said MDC.
The MDC delegation will be led by its project manager for
CeBIT Asia Yew Kok Meng. The event will be held at the Shanghai
International Expo Centre.
MDC said CeBIT Asia 2004 expected participation from more
than 500 companies from Australia, India, Japan, Korea,
Germany, Switzerland and the US.
There will be more than 60,000 attendees of technology
buyers, IT professionals and leading software developers.
The range of exhibits include IT equipment and systems,
telecommunication wireless and networks, software and services,
security and card technology, and research and technology.
MDC is a one-stop agency to facilitate the development
of Malaysia's national ICT project and to expedite the entry
of investors into the MSC. MDC is also empowered to grant
MSC status to companies wishing to locate their operations
within the MSC.
There are now a total of 1,019 MSC status companies comprising
974 technology companies, 36 institutions of higher learning
and nine incubator companies
